Joining Northern Arena’s award winning learn to swim school couldn’t be easier.

The swim class, direct debit, perpetual booking system is designed to make your life easy with swim classes running all year round (except Christmas and New Year) removing the need to rebook every term and ensures your space and booking continues. This progressive swimming model allows your child to move to the next level as soon as they have attained the required criteria - so you don't have to wait until the end of a block of lessons to move up!

 

Steps To Join

All swimming lessons are set by ability rather than age. So before coming a swim school member we need to assess your child with a short 5-10 minute free swim assessment to ensure they begin swimming at the correct level (except under 3 years).

STEP 1.

Once your child's level has been established, speak with one of our friendly reception team or call them on 09 421 9700 to find a time and day which best suits you. All times are subject to availability.

STEP 2.

Complete a Northern Arena Swim School Direct Debit Authority Form – You can pay your fees from either a credit/debit card or a nominated bank account. Please complete a form below for your chosen option.

For Ages 3+ 

Northern Arena’s learn to swim classes are set by ability rather than age, which is why we assess every child’s ability to ensure they begin swimming at the correct level within the swim school programme. 

Each learn to swim assessment will only take 5-10 minutes where the instructor will ask your child to perform a few simple tasks in the water.

Thursday 2.00 pm -  4.50 every 10 minutes

Saturday 12.30-2.00 every 10 minutes

Sunday 12.30-2.00 every 10 minutes

Please note: Other times may be available by prior arrangement.

What You Need to Bring

  • Swimming togs for those who are being assessed

  • A Towel

  • Swimming Cap (we have caps you can borrow if you don’t have one)

  • If you have goggles bring them along

  • If you intend on joining the Northern Arena Swim School please bring along a credit card or your bank details to ease the registration process.

 

What You Need To Know

Once you've joined the Northern Arena Swim School, here's what you need to know:

Now you are booked in, your time and 
space are secured until you move up a level.

You are issued with 1 swipe tag when
you register. Replacements are $10 each.

All Northern Arena swim classes run
continuously throughout the year.

Your booking and lessons continue during the school
holidays (except over Christmas and New Year).

Want to take a break during the school holidays? Keep an eye out for our free suspension email and notices to suspend your lessons free of charge during the school holidays.

Payments are always 1 month in advance.

Payments are debited on the 22nd of every month.

 

You are entitled to 1 make up lesson
per quarter to be used in that quarter.

Makeup lessons can be only booked 48hrs
in advance and subject to availability.

You can suspend your lessons for a fee of $5 per lesson
for a minimum of 2 weeks and up to 4 weeks in total.

You must give 3 weeks written
notice for cancellation of lessons.

If your details change at any time, please
let reception know as soon as possible.

 
 

How long are the lessons?


Lessons are 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 60 minutes depending on their level.




How often are my lessons?


You are enrolled for 1 lesson per week on the same day and time.




Can I do more than 1 lesson a week?


Yes, this can be arranged at reception (subject to availability) with a 33% discount for a child’s second lesson per week.




What does my child wear for the lesson?


It is compulsory for your child to wear togs and a swimming cap, with goggles optional. However, we recommend using goggles as they assist learning by helping the child feel more relaxed in the water.




Does my child need to wear a cap?


Yes, all students must wear a cap when in the water. The only exception is for parents/caregivers and babies under 3 years during lessons.




Am I in the water with my child?


All students over 3 years of age are in the water with the instructor and the other students. All under 3's require a parent/caregiver over the age of 16yrs to be in the water. So bring your togs and towel as well.




Do you have changing and shower facilities?


Yes. There are showers on deck and female and male changing rooms. We also have three family change rooms which include a shower, toilet and additional change tables. All children using the family change rooms must be accompanied by an adult.




What do I do if my child is sick or misses a lesson?


If you are unable to attend a lesson please let us know by calling us on 09 421 9700. You are entitled to one make up lesson per term. Make ups must be taken in the current term, are subject to availability and can be booked no more than 48 hours in advance.




Can I take photos?


Yes you can. Please take care and be aware when photographing your child, as some other parents may not want their children in any photographs.




When will my child move up a class?


Your child will move up as soon as they have achieved the required criteria for the level and the teacher and deck supervisor are confident they are ready for the next level. This can happen at anytime except under 3’s, who move levels quarter to quarter due to set lesson programming.




Do lessons stop during school holidays?


Lessons continue throughout the school holidays (except over Christmas and New Year). You can suspend your lessons over the school holiday time, as long as you complete the suspension form within the given time frame. Please note the Free suspension period does not include Talent ID and Marlin Squad swimming levels.




Can I suspend my lessons?


You can suspend your lessons and keep your place in the class at any time during the term for a $5 fee for each lesson missed. A minimum of two consecutive and a maximum of four consecutive weeks.




What are my payment options?


You must pay a pro-rata to secure your booking. Ongoing payments are made monthly via direct debit, using a debit/credit card or bank account. This secures your ongoing space from quarter to quarter.




When are direct debit payment made?


Payments are made overnight on the 21-22nd of each month Processing can take up to 5 days depending on the day the payment falls.




How do I cancel lessons?


You must give three weeks written notice. Click here to fill out the form or come and see us at reception.




What do I do if I forget my swipe tag?


Please notify reception before your lesson.




What do I do if I lose my swipe tag?


We can re-issue you a new one at a charge of $10.




Do I need to re-book for next quarter?


As you pay by regular direct debit your booking will automatically roll over.




How do I update my details?

Where is Northern Arena?


Northern Arena is located in Silverdale. We are at the top of the hill on the corner of The Hibiscus Coast Highway and Whangaparaoa Road next to the Silverdale Medical Centre. Our address is 8 Polarity Rise, Silverdale, Auckland.

What does my baby wear?


Please ensure your child has tight-legged swim wear to minimise accidents in the pool. We recommend reusable swim nappies which are available at reception. Caps and goggles are not compulsory for babies, however caps are compulsory in pre-school lessons and we also recommend goggles. For this reason, we suggest from Super Tots level onwards that they start getting used to wearing caps and goggles.




Where do I buy Reusable Swim Nappies?


You can get them at Northern Arena. Please see our friendly reception team for help.




Under 3's - If I can’t get in the water one week can another person take my place?


The lessons teach the caregiver as well as the child, therefore it is important that there is consistency of caregiver in the water. It is best if the same caregiver gets in the pool each week. However, if necessary, this role could be shared. All caregivers must be at least 16 years of age.
