Having taught group fitness for over 10 years, I believe I now know the recipe for a fabulous fitness experience – tablespoons of fun, a handful of challenge, a sprinkle of sweat, and a couple of cups of motivation! I aspire to bring all those to my group fitness classes – ensuring my participants get serious results and at the same time – enjoy the experience. I have three teenagers and a busy life as a personal trainer, so love getting some time out, taking to the bike/stage and inspiring and motivating people through group fitness classes – as far as passions go, I think it’s a pretty rewarding one.

For 15 years, I spent time traveling around the world experiencing different cultures and gathering wisdom.  I have now settled in New Zealand with my lovely husband and 5 year old son who also share a love for yoga. I come from a strong competitive sporting background and fitness leadership.  About 2001, I found yoga to relieve stress and open up tight muscles and support my back.  Quickly I discovered yoga was SO much more, and was drawn to teach yoga to share what I love.  My personal mantra is ahimsa – loving kindness and gratitude.

Why I practice: Yoga has helped me in so many ways and profoundly touched me. I have gratitude for the incredible yogis that have shared teachings with me on my yoga journey.  Every time I roll out my mat – whether it is to teach or practice yoga – I learn and grow.

Why I teach: I thought that if I could help just one other person the way it helped me, then the entire journey sharing yoga teachings would be worthwhile.  As a part of this great lineage of yoga I serve, give, share, and honour the divine light in each yogi. I like to encourage each student to practice “their own yoga” honouring the body and mind in the moment. The breath is the yoga.

Until I got roped into a group fitness class one day, I had always trained alone either running or resistance training. But it only took one class and I was hooked. The team atmosphere and energy pushes you to go that extra rep, crank up that weight, push a little harder. I love being a part of that energy, seeing people do more than they thought they ever could and getting to that next level in body and mind. Plus the endorphin-soaked (and relieved) smiles afterwards are just the best.

My motivation, drive and work ethic is a product of my disciplined yet relaxed upbringing and military background. My main goal is to help others realize the importance of exercising and adopting a healthy lifestyle which in turn can lead to true contentment and enjoyment of life.

I have worked with many people from those requiring high performance results including The Luxembourg National Rugby Team to those who are new to fitness while utilizing functional methods of training. I have recently returned to New Zealand after 3 years abroad where I was coaching at Reebok CrossFit Valens and CrossFit 1839 whilst running my personal training and nutrition business.

Growing up in the UK, sports and fitness have always been a big part of my life. James arrived in New Zealand 3 ½ years ago and started boxing training at his local gym, James loved the vibe of training in a group and it helped his fitness level improve greatly, he was hooked!!

Last year James completed my certificate of fitness levels 3 & 4 at NZIHF (New Zealand institute of health and fitness) in order to help people achieve their fitness goals whilst having fun in the process!!

Ever since making the move up to the Coast from Hamilton in 2004 I have been excited about the Coast’s people and lifestyle. Exercise has always been a massive part of my life and from the moment I discovered Group Finess I was hooked…..and what beter way to be involved than to teach! Not long after becoming a Group Fitness Instructor I took some time out to have a couple of little boys I then decided to get back into teaching in a big way to regain my strength, stamina and fitness.

Working in a team environment, seeing people discover their fitness potential then watching that grow is what really gives me the buzz to teach these amazing programs!  See you in class.

I grew up in Takapuna on Auckland’s North Shore and sport, fitness and the outdoors was always a big part of my life. How lucky am I to teach RPM and CXWORX – What a buzz and a pleasure to help drive and motivate people to train hard, to get fit and to be AWESOME! I love Body Balance and especially enjoy the way music and movement work together with our breath to give a full mind and body work out, which is what I try to bring to each of my classes. I encourage you to leave the class feeling stronger, not only in the physical sense, but also in your mind which in turn helps your general well being.  I’m a Bach Flower Practitioner and very passionate about the way our mind and body interconnect, which is why I am so passionate about this program and it’s benefits. I have been teaching yoga full time for the last 5 years.

I began under Danial Arron taking the '300 Hours of Vinyasa Yoga teacher Training' in Bali 2012.
Inspired to learn more I continued with a one month intensive course in Hawaii for Power Yoga with - Baron Baptiste 2013 followed by a week’s intensive training with Sharron Gannon and David Life learning Jivamukti style in New York.

If you are finding yourself with muscle tightness or mobility issues or you would simply like to improve your balance and strength a consistent yoga practice will certainly achieve these challenges and more.

If your lifestyle leaves you craving time to go within and find a peaceful focus I have found that yoga has enabled me to relax my mind allowing me to continue to grow and learn in both my teaching and my personal life I look forward to sharing my gift of Yoga

Hello Northern Arena! My name is Renee and I have been a Les Mills instructor for nearly three years now, after taking the giant leap from gym floor to centre stage in my late 30's. I teach Body Vive and CX Worx here at Northern Arena, and am also certified to teach Body Step. Teaching group fitness is so much fun and so beneficial for every BODY.
My classes are friendly, fun and cater to all levels and abilities, so come along and find out what it's all about!

I have been teaching since 2004 and a true believer in the Les Mills Programmes.  I still to this day have the nervous toilet stop before each class as I’m so excited to get up there and hope you all fall in love with the classes as much as I do and the buzz that comes with, but if we get really deep into the why I started teaching it would have to be the “attention seeking” being the oldest of three you have to work hard to get that attention, so that led to center of attention addictions such as Performance then Group Fitness with my very own mic and best thing that now drives me is seeing people healthy and achieving their goals with me. Last but not least I love to sing and I’m too old for “NZ Idol”, so you all get live shows every class.
